Motivating The Team In The Times Of Uncertainty

In such uncertain times, when suddenly most of the business transactions of the world has come to a standstill, the employees have become equally worried like the employers.

There are nightmares about losing jobs, delay in payment, getting replaced as the business will automate more, no positions in the market and many other things.

What are you supposed to do? What are you planning to do?

Take into consideration two crucial things:

  • The employees are not responsible for this pandemic.
  • The employees have stood with you through all the good and bad times. The success which you have achieved is because of your employees, so you must be committed to securing their future.

In my organization, I have also taken several steps so that my team performs with the same motivation.

  • I have assured my team that they won’t lose their jobs, nor will their salaries be deducted.
  • While they are working from their homes, I conduct three meetings every day with them through conference and zoom calls. At 8.46, I talk to the leaders of the core group, at 9.01, I speak to the leaders across the locations, and at 18.01, I communicate with all the employees across the country. In the meetings, I always discuss a topic to upgrade the thought process of the employees.
  • I have asked the employees to upgrade themselves. In this period with performing their responsibilities, they are also enriching themselves through reading books, watching videos, attending online sessions. Every employee is involved in the knowledge up gradation.
  • All the best performers have been given promotions and have been encouraged to build a team with them.
  • Everyone in the company is involved in selling our products through phone and web.
  • I have also encouraged my employees to be the partners of smmart and also asked them to collaborate with other progressive people outside smmart to build a big Parivaar that works on our values.

These are some of the steps which I have taken in my organization. When I talk to them every day, they get direction. When they upgrade their knowledge, they get guidance as well as enhance their capabilities. When I assure them about their future, they gain confidence. When I allow them to become partners, find new partners and build a team, they explore their creativity.

When I give them promotions, they get encouragement.

Why will they even think to leave an organization where every moment has created a considerable amount of value in their lives.

There is not a single trace of frustration, depression or confusion in our organization.

Your course of action should also follow the same thought process.

Once the disaster period is over, you will need your team to rebuild everything again.

This is the time when they desperately need direction, capability and confidence, and once you can provide this to them, you will win their hearts, souls and minds forever.

Encourage them for their every achievement. I am doing the same.

These steps will develop personal honesty and the sense of ownership in them. This method will bring an “Entrepreneur Shift” in their mindsets.

You will be able to build a Dream Team, which you have always envisioned.
